- More than just a tour – a journey to the age of the Impressionists.
- Iron and steel architecture, the Orsay train station, the ballroom, the furniture…
- The groundbreaking movements that shaped the 19th century: Realism, Impressionism, and Post-impressionism.
The sight of the monumental clock on the building’s façade on the Seine might remind the visitor that before being a museum, Orsay was a train station, built in the center of Paris for the 1900 World’s Fair. The site had previously housed the cavalry barracks and the Palais d'Orsay, which burnt down during the Paris Commune uprising in 1871. Inaugurated in 1986, the museum boasts the largest collection of Impressionist works in the world today.
